The mountain shelter Forni typicalrestaurant is run by Grazia and Rosa, both sharing a great passion for culinary arts; they prepare their dishes with the utmost care, adding new specialities fruit of their vast experience and creativity to the ancient recipes handed down by their grandmother. Besides the typical Valtellinese dishes, those dishes exclusive to the restaurant “Rosa” deserve a mention, such as for example among the starters the Mountain Pasture Cheese quiche; among the first courses offered the chestnut gnocchetti with speck, the rye-flour vegetable ravioli and the potato gnocchi with carrot sauce; among the soup dishes the barley, lentil and apple soup and the rice, chestnut and sausage soup. There are many main courses, all served with polenta, such as oven-cooked shin of pork, deer “salmì” or deer cutlet served with wild thyme. Not to be overlooked among the desserts, which are always homemade, the ricotta and raspberry cake, apple fritters and the ‘Forni cup’. All to be savoured with a good Valtellina wine.
