SKI TOURING

Known even as “the most beautiful iced wall of Alpi”, it is the second highest point of the Ortles-Cevedale group, for this reason in German it is called “King Peak”.

Gran Zebrù raises in the sky with an imposing glacier, sphere goal for alpinists and for expert climbers, who are looking for exciting adventures and breathtaking views. Pay attention to the route, because all of them cross glaciers and so the use of crampons and ropes (together with skies and skins in case of downhill) is necessary!

Difficulty: OSA – very good skier alpinist, MSA – medium skier alpinist if the skies are left under the southern canal

Period: From the first part of March till half May

Start altitude: 2178 Forni mountain hut

Finish altitude: 3851 m

Altitude gap: 1673 m – difficult altitude gap for 600 m

Exposition: S-SE-E

Help point: the Forni mountain hut can be reached from Santa Caterina Valfurva through the Forni Valley street, and it is open from the first part of March
Uphill time: 3/5h according to the general snow conditions and its own training.

Material: ski-mountaineering base + ARTVA (avalanche detector), snow shovel and snow probe
It is important to remember that the itineraries are in part on ice or difficult flat, therefore it is important and likely to have the whole mountaineering material for the progression and self-help.
