To 'live slowly' the mountain.

For any person wishing to snowshoeing in the area, Rifugio Forni and the glacier nearby could well represent an ideal starting point for several trails.

The Forni trail

Starting point: Santa Caterina Valfurva (1738 meters a.s.l.)
Arrival point: Forni Chalet (2178 meters a.s.l.)

Description: starting from the square in Santa Caterina Valfurva take the path to Rifugio Forni.
(1.5 km of track on the valley bottom before start, in Nassegno, to go up toward the Miravalle huts – baite Miravalle). After having walked uphill you will reach the refreshment bar Stella Alpina (closed), from where it is possible catch a glimpse of Rifugio Forni. Walk for 800 meters along the uphill road of a moderate grade and you will reach our lodge opposite to the homonyms glacier. Starting from the second half of March, Rifugio Forni offers bar and restaurant service, and it is also possible stay overnight. The place is also well-known for spotting animals such as roe deers, chamois and deers in their natural habitat.
Difficulty level: medium-easy (we suggest to take with you some small crampons).
Time: 2 hours (one-way), 1.30 hours (return)
Length: total 10 km round-trip

Every year some experienced mountain guides propose to the guests staying at the Forni Chalet a variety of guided snowshoe trips according to the participants’ level.
